Evening Chaps , well here it is a Yamaha Virago, received this kit from my good friend Erwin many years ago, and as we have a bike build off on a group this side I decided that this will be it. Also i have ordered some Gloss black paint that is needed on the Porsche as well as on this kit as a primer for the chrome received this today along with some otheres.

Its a great looking Kit but oh boy all the chrome.

Chrome 2.jpeg Chrome.jpeg Mr Muscle.jpeg no chrome 3.jpg

Chrome just had to go, i think it looks very toyish and way to much bling on these models, So I used my usual Mr Muscle speed strip, tile polish stripper , works like a charm and yippee no chrome.

disks 2.jpgUntitled.jpg

Started modifying the disks as well , these holes need to be opened , a bit untidy till but will neaten them up 44 to go.

As always with my bike builds the Tank gets the treatment first , this went together really well, and no filler was required.

Thanks a lot for looking

Chopper time !
A kit dating back to 1986 gets finally build, anxious to see it finished with all its chrome parts.

Ah, Christiaensen, they were HUGE as a toyshop chain back in the 80's and 90's, I can't even remember how many times I spent my weekly allowence in their shop in Bruges... even broke my elbow once when the kit I bought (Revell 1/72 X-3 "Stiletto") got caught in the spokes of the front wheel of my bicycle on my way home.
Interesting kit, these Virago's were monsters in disguise.

Painful reminders. The elbow that is .

Yes one of the Japanese manufacturers many attempts to compete with Harley.

Honestly thought after the Katana it couldn't get any worse :) Luckily it's a scale model and look what you're going to make of it and the work on the tank is well done.

That's how I want to ride it :)

That one is nicely chopped , looks good but alas 500km on that seat and you wont have a Butt left or be able to walk . :winking:

I am currently in the process of purchasing a Virago from a friend. That motorcycle is 31 years old and he's the first owner.
But first let's drive a bit before that happens. I'm waiting for some sun :winking:

Good luck with your built.

Hey guys , thanks a lot for all the positive comments on the build thus far

Have made some more progress on the Virago, painted up all the parts for the swing arm and the rear of the bike and assembled as required .WhatsApp Image 2025-02-01 at 14.03.11_63844191.jpg

Will now prep and paint the rest of the parts for the forks and the front end, will also need to tackle the drilling out and cutting the holes in the disks

Thanks for taking a look
