As requested by Erwin, here the posts for this build.
Model : Tatra 805
Manufacturer : Tonda
Scale : 1:35
Media : Vacuum Formed, Resin and Scratch
Reference : Internet
Well, firstly one could ask why a vacuum formed kit in today’s injection molded and resin world, it goes something like this, I received this kit from a friend a few years ago (Thanks Erwin) and there it has been laying until now, me being petrified by vacuum formed kits as a result of all the bad things that I have heard about them. Well on my recent little escapade to Belgium I found another Vacuum formed and resin kit, this one also a tuck, this time a tank transporter, well I couldn’t resist it and had to have it, what a dilemma, 2 of these horrible kits and me to afraid to build them.
So it was decided that I would use the Tatra as a practice run, for the Ursus A that is lying next on the pile. A bit of quick searching on the Internet, where I found very little on building Vacuum for and of I went.
Here is a pic of the Box Art. You will notice that the date of manufacture is 1992, so a relatively new kit by Today’s standard.
There are 3 A4 pages that are the plans, all in some language that I can’t read, but the pictures are good and I can read them well.
I never took pix of the formed parts as these are all white and crap to photograph, will just have to see what comes of this.
Well Gents, progress is being made on this beastie, the plastic is not t bad and seems to be fitting quite nicely. It just takes a lot of time sanding the mating surfaces to get them level and fitting properly, The smaller parts are really painful because you loose most if the skin on your fingers.
Here are pix of the engine, you will note that I have added some wiring to it, I will still add a few other wires and goodies just to beef it up more. It must be noted that this is an Air Cooled engine and that most of it is covered with a steel plate so there is not really room for much improvement.
Here are some pix of the chassis, All i will still add here brake pipes to the individual wheels and a few Wires for the lights.
This build is really starting to grow on me and it looks like it might make a very unique little build for the tables.
Dont get me wrong, Vacuformed is a huge amount of work, there is proberbly already 30+ hours in it.
